We’re passionate about helping you grow and make an impact.
About us
Located at the northern end of Great Barrier Island, nestled in the picturesque Karaka Bay on roughly 250 acres of pristine land, OMAC Orama Marine Adventure Centre is part of the greater Orama community. Our centre offers unique, life-changing experiences that combine adventure, learning, and personal growth in a stunning natural setting.
At OMAC, we specialise in hosting school camps, leadership training programs, and adventure activities that foster teamwork, resilience, and self-discovery. Whether it’s kayaking along rugged coastlines, hiking through native bush, or engaging in hands-on leadership challenges, our programs are designed to inspire growth, both personally and within teams. We believe that outdoor education provides a powerful platform for students and groups to connect with themselves, others, and the environment.
Our guests enjoy a range of accommodation options, from stunning sea-view self-contained units and comfortable lodge rooms to rustic cabins and tent sites. Surrounded by native birds and rich marine wildlife, OMAC is truly a slice of paradise. The centre is part of the broader Orama community, where hospitality and welcome are core values, offering a space for reflection, growth, and rejuvenation.
Orama has a rich history of giving people hope and vision for their future. Since its pioneering days in 1962, when Neville and Dorothy Winger purchased the land from the Padderson family, Orama has been a place of spiritual renewal and transformation. Originally started as a Christian conference and ministry centre, Orama has touched the lives of many, who have gone on to lead and pioneer movements across the globe.
The valley where Orama stands was also historically used by local Māori to grow medicinal plants, including Mairehau, known for its healing qualities. This sense of peace and healing continues to permeate the valley today, offering guests a tranquil, nurturing environment to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and connect with nature, themselves, and their communities.
Whether you come for a school camp, a leadership retreat, or a personal adventure, OMAC at Orama invites you to experience the transformative power of nature, community, and adventure.
